One of my habits in the morning as soon as I get out of bed is to move the blinds and look out of the window. Today the sky was showing it’s best face, smiling and beaming out the glory of a wonderful sunrise.
I thought it was about time I posted a layout. All supplies by Anna Aspnes
‘Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life – well, valuable, but small – and sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven’t been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn’t it be the other way around? I don’t really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void.` You’ve Got Mail
Simple things are usually the most interesting. This year i’m curating the small, the everyday as well as the large and exciting. For this is my life.
This week I almost decided to ditch my blog, I’ve been very lacklustre for the past six months about keeping it up. A number of things have made me feel this way
The doldrums isn’t that a great word ? The dictionary gives this definition
Well that has been me. I suppose I’m looking for a reason to blog, a goal or maybe a theme.
Maybe just to showcase photographs ?
To add quotes or wise words ?
“Align yourself with people that you can learn from, people who want more out of life, people who are stretching and searching and seeking some higher ground in life.”
— Les Brown
Maybe a link up ? I really miss Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesdays and Friday Finds….
Then there is the fear that if I did a link up would anyone bother to link ….
So what do you think ? Would you join me in a link up ? Would you like a theme ?
Maybe this might be the answer, Adobe Slate. Although it doesn’t have a social element you can embed in your blog or send a link to it via Facebook and Twitter but you can’t comment and if you do ‘Appreciate’ the author can’t see you liked it ….
So let me know via comments or email…..

Now both our children leave in Bristol we seem to be spending a lot of our leisure time driving up the motorway ! It’s no hardship as the city has everything a photographer could want or need.
It has some wonderful green areas. This is the beginning of what is known as The. Downs, but Bristol has so many green spots and vantage points.
The wonderful Clifton Suspension Bridge designed by the great Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. it spans the Avon Gorge and took 33 years to build. Brunel was a great engineer, a visionary, a man willing to take chances. In 2002 the BBC ran a programme called 100 Greatest Britons, Brunel was second, only Winston Churchill beat him and William Shakespeare was fourth ! If you want to learn more here is a link about the history.
On a beautiful Autumn day you can’t beat the view.
The area known as Clifton is considered the most desirable, elegant and upmarket with lots of classy, independent shops.
It has the Clifton Arcade which is full of little independents one off shops.
And finally one of the many scrapbook pages I have created about this wonderful city. Supplies by Anna Aspnes.
“The very least you can do in your life is figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof.”

What I’m listening to :- Fleet Foxes – Fleet Foxes. I particularly love ‘White Winter Hymnal’
I’m looking at abstracts and textures at the moment, it’s something I have become more interested in. To me this image represents my feelings at the moment. some light but lots of dark, sometimes I have a light bulb moment then almost a dive back into the dark.
I find this time of year as the dark comes early I hibernate, this year I must fill my world with more light.
I manipulated the image in Snapseed and Lightroom then textured in Photoshop.
Taken in my little studio early morning with my iPhone .
How do you cope with dark days ?
Isn’t it funny that a day can make all the difference to how you look at the world ? Sunday I felt ill, Fibromyalgia, cold, achy and downright miserable. Not an ounce of enthusiasm and grumpy to boot. Today it’s raining and cold and I still feel achy , but I played with my tripod and trusty Lumix (still haven’t decided on a name) . The light was hideous but with the tripod and Lightroom I had a great time.

I feel Autumn edits should be gritty I don’t know why but the rusts, reds and yellows look so good with lots of contrast.
kk_aurora
A different effect desaturated but enough contrast to show the veins in the leaf and the crackles in the pot.
Finally I have been playing with typography and as the retro look is so popular at the moment I made this….
Sigh that was fun…..

I’m in a reflective mood at the moment, looking back and forwards. What I have done and what I really want to do. I find it difficult baring my soul but as I am nearing my 60th birthday some plans and choices have to be made.

I think since my breast cancer scare some years ago I have been coasting not really thinking and not acting. I am so lucky and I am grateful for my life and for my family and friends.

Lines have to be drawn and resolutions made, it won’t be easy. Inside me there are stories to be told.
