Recently I have discovered that I like monthly prompts, my concentration and boredom levels kick in about week 4 so this seems to be the perfect length .

August Break 2015 Day 6 Notebook

I have just finished August break with Susannah Conway and now I am joining up with toris_tales for her #talesofseptember. Instagram has become my favourite way of communicating it is clean, quick and friendly.

For September I am revisiting 31 Things by Ali Edwards, I’m using her prompts to create an image, art piece or maybe a quote. I hope to document daily here on my blog, which I have so neglected recently. I realise that blogging daily could be a bit of a challenge but I am not going to beat myself up about it, I’m just going to enjoy the process…

So onto Day 1 the prompt is jewellery. This is my take on the prompt .

The supplies are by Anna Aspnes for those interested I used ArtPlay Palette Everyday,  FotoblendzOverlays no6_2

“Jewellery holds memories, of occasions, of holidays and milestones.

But to me the best jewellery is nature’s bounty.. Raindrops sparkling like diamonds, the sun blazing through the trees on a winter morning changes colour into emeralds and rubies. The bright blue sea shows sapphire glinting under the sun.”

Tell me about your jewellery what memories does it hold for you ?

  1. Interesting to hear of new directions. I do believe there are seasons for things. One thing can lead to another but nothing is wasted. ( Note to self!)

  2. Hello Viv – I completely understand what you’re saying. I love still life BUT recently have been working on documenting life and creating layouts for albums for my children and grandchildren. There is a season for everything, right? Don’t get me wrong, I’m still checking in to The Studio and the prompts but I too am …… shall we say…going back to my roots? I’ve totally changed my blog and have incorporated EVERYTHING I love doing, not just photography.
I’m going to be doing a 31 day writing as well come October, joining in with http://write31days.com/. Trying to get some posts scheduled for it already.
Good luck with your posting, will be visiting!! LOVE LOVE LOVE you layout! I just took Anna’s “AnnaBlendz” class. So excited!

  3. I didn’t do the August Break this year because of our travels, but I loved doing it last year. Monthly projects are great fun and I love seeing how others interpret a prompt. For now, though, I have a ton of images to process and put into a memory book for the grandkids and Grandpa!

  4. Congratulations on your new direction, Viv! I love this image and your lovely post, and you are so right that the best jewellery is nature’s bounty! Good luck with your future posts, but please don’t feel you have to post every day – the muse has a mind of her own!

  7. I love your take on this prompt. I could do a whole series on jewelry as I was picking my piece for this prompt. So many pieces in my jewelry organizer have special memories for me.

  8. This is going to be wonderful Viv…you are off to a good start…I wish I had more time because I see so many things I want to follow/be a part of but the other part of me, just loves waking up each day and not having an agender except one day a week with the boys…since giving up classes with Kim…I’m free floating and loving it…I’ll keep my eye on you though.
