What I’m listening to  Lisa Gerrard – Now we are Free (from the film Gladiator)

The year is nearly over. In general it has been a good year. My two children have shaken off their wings and flown, one to travel and one to succeed in his chosen field.I think there will be challenges ahead but we will be there on the sidelines cheering them on. As for us well, it’s a matter of choosing the next step along the yellow brick road. I have a few ideas in the pipeline, who knows whether I will succeed , but I won’t know until I try. Mark continues to be my rock and I think we will plan some short adventures, health and weather permitting.

I’m still playing around with my word that sums up my hopes and dreams for the next 12 months.

  1. I’m pondering my word for 2015, too. I might have two words this time around. They’re very different from one another but both feel necessary. Happy holiday wishes to you and your family, Viv.

  2. Beautiful! And I think those two words are pretty cool too! We’ve had an empty nest for years- and, after getting used to it, have found it a wonderful time of life. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  4. I admire people who are able to find a word for the year; I simply don’t think that way. I do know the feeling of the empty nest, but I’ve adjusted over the past 12 years! I retired that same year. Beautiful image ..beautifully edited.

  6. Hi Viv, such a lovely photo. I seem to still be foundering and mine flew the coop quite a bit ago. I’ve never chosen a year word before, but I’m thinking I need to work on the word Joy. And as you say, with age, I’m finding I need to adjust my pipeline and quit trying to hang onto old routines. Have a great Christmas and a wonderful 2015. 🙂 Thanks for visiting me.

  7. Such a beautiful image and such a great title, that is a good word don’t you think to Nurture. It is a word we as Mother’s know so well as that is what we do. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas, can’t believe it is here or almost.

  8. Viv, I love your idea of short adventures. When my youngest son heads off to college in fall 2015, my husband and I are planning a Year of Vacations, where we will take one short vacation or mini-adventure every month for one year. We are already working on our list of places to go and can hardly wait to get started (though will miss our son, too!). Your photos of late have a lovely contemplative nature – and I’m finding them wonderful places to rest and think. Thank you! Merry Christmas!
